- Maillard's hometown is Lima, Peru. He did his undergraduate studies in Biology in the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima. He is currently doing his Ph.D. in the Biophysical, Structural & Computational Biology program. Rodrigo works in Dr. James Lee's lab.

- Macromolecular Interactions applied to the mechanism of evasion of the humoral immune system. Effect of Neutralizing-Resistant Mutations on the Interaction of Monoclonal Antibodies with the Envelope Protein Structural DIII from West Nile Virus.
