Personal Information

Biographical & Contact Information
I am from Houston, TX, and graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX with a B.S. in Biomedical Science. Currently, I am in the Biophysical, Structural, and Computational Biology PhD. program under the mentorship of Dr. Robert O. Fox.
Research Interests
My research interests include the study of a regulatory protein encoded by the HIV1 genome known as Rev (Regulator of Virion Expression). Rev is essential for the replication of the HIV1 virus which makes it a therapeutic target. We are using novel chemical footprinting techniques to determine details of Rev/Rev and Rev/RRE (Rev Response Element) mRNA interactions. These studies will allow for optimization of conditions suitable for structure determination of the biologically-relevant Rev protein via x-ray crystallography and/or NMR.
Selected Publications
  1. Binding of a HIV1 Rev R-X-X-K (R-I-L-K) Motif Peptide to the C-terminal SH3 Domains of Hematopoietic Adaptor Proteins, GRB2, Gads, and Grap.
